Joe Foss American Legion Post 97 Partners with Vitalant for a Lifesaving Blood Drive in San Tan Valley

In an effort to combat the critical national blood shortage exacerbated by the COVID-19 omicron variant, Joe Foss American Legion Post 97 is stepping up to host the "Vitalant Neighborhood Blood Drive." This crucial event is set for Monday, March 4, 2024, at the San Tan Valley Veteran Center, located at 5764 E. Hunt Hwy, San Tan Valley, Arizona, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The recent spike in COVID-19 cases, particularly with the fast-spreading omicron variant, has led to a significant decrease in blood donations. Numerous community blood drives have been canceled, further straining an already depleted blood supply. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Joe Foss American Legion Post 97, in partnership with Vitalant, is calling on community members to step forward and donate blood.

Vitalant, the exclusive blood provider for Banner Ironwood Medical Center, all hospitals in Maricopa County, and the VA hospital in Phoenix, is at the forefront of addressing this pressing need. The blood collected during this event will directly support patients across the region who depend on transfusions for their survival, making every donation invaluable.

John Meyer, spokesperson for Joe Foss American Legion Post 97, emphasized the importance of community participation, stating, "It's more important than ever for healthy individuals to step forward and donate blood. Every donation counts, and it could be a lifeline for someone in need."

To ensure the safety of both donors and staff, the blood drive will adhere to the highest standards of health and safety, implementing additional precautions in line with the latest health guidelines. This event offers a unique opportunity for the San Tan Valley community to come together in support of a common cause, demonstrating the strength and compassion of our community in times of need.

Community members who wish to contribute to this life-saving effort are encouraged to set up advance appointments at www.BloodHero.com, using sponsor code: P2Y328 or call 1-
877-25-Vital to schedule an appointment.

Let's come together as a community to support this vital cause. Your donation can save lives and help ensure that our healthcare system remains strong and resilient during these challenging times.
